Trevecca Nazarene University is committed to upholding all applicable
provisions of Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990)
and Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act (1973), which
mandate equal access for students with disabilities to private,
postsecondary institutions.
Identification:
It is the
student’s responsibility to voluntarily and confidentially disclose
information regarding the nature of the disability. In order to
receive assistance, students must
1) Register with the Academic Support Center
2) Provide current documentation of the qualified disability.
Some examples of disabilities include the following:
- Hearing impairment
- Visual impairment
- Mobility impairment
- Learning disability
- ADD/ADHD
- Processing disorder
Examples of appropriate documentation may include
- A letter from the student's doctor
- A psychological or psycho-educational evaluation
- An individual education plan
- Other qualified certification of disability
Documentation
will be evaluated in order for the staff to confirm that the
condition rises to the level of disability. Once the
condition is verified, documentation will be used to determine
