CLEP

Five general examinations are available. Each general examination covers material taught in courses that most students take as requirements in the first two years of college. Each is 90 minutes long and consists primarily of multiple-choice questions.

  • CLEP is the most widely accepted credit-by-exam program in the country.
  • CLEP exams are available in two categories--general examinations and subject examinations.
  • CLEP tests cost $65 (plus $10 testing fee for TNU students and $20 for non-TNU students)
  • Each exam is approximately 90 minutes in length.
  • CLEP exams are computer-based so results are available immediately.
  • Tuition for CLEP and DANTES credit received is charged at a reduced rate of $25 per hour.

CLEP exams are administered at Trevecca by appointment. Appointments can be made by calling the Academic Support Center at 248-1346. CLEP exams are also offered at other colleges across the United States. CLEP tests can be taken at any location, but students wanting scores posted on their Trevecca transcripts must request that scores be sent to:

    Trevecca Nazarene University
    333 Murfreesboro Road
    Nashville, TN  37210-2877
    TNU CLEP Code is 1809

Each CLEP exam costs $65.00, a fee which must be paid on the day the test is administered. Also, a testing fee must be paid to the test center. The student may pay by check, credit card, or money order made payable to CLEP. Any credit for which the student qualifies may be added to his or her transcript at the rate of $25 per semester hour.

The Academic Support Center will receive a copy of the scores approximately two weeks after the test is taken. The scores will be evaluated, and the student will be notified of the results.
