General Commencement Information
2008 COMMENCEMENT EVENTS

Friday, May 2, 7:30 p.m., Baccalaureate Service – University Convocation Center.  Reception for seniors and their families to follow in the Convocation Center.

Saturday, May 3, at 9:00 a.m., Commencement Ceremony – In McClurkan Quad (located in the center of the campus).  Seniors need to be in line at 8:30 a.m.  More than 5,000 people will visit the campus for this event; consequently, parking will be at a premium.  Graduates and their guests should arrive early in order to be able to find parking places.  Outside seating is unlimited.

Seating for Handicapped Guests – Students who have guests who are handicapped need to notify the Office of Academic Affairs (615-248-1258) in order to arrange special seating.  A section for seating guests with wheelchairs is being reserved on Saturday morning; however, in order to accommodate each person with a wheelchair, this area will be limited to that person and one other person to assist. Handicapped parking is available, but limited.  Consequently, those who desire handicapped parking should arrive early enough to be directed to a parking space.

Inclement Weather Plan – If weather conditions are poor on Saturday morning, separate commencement convocations will be held for different graduating groups in various locations throughout campus. Specific information regarding the “rain plan” will be provided with the academic regalia. Seating for the outside ceremony will be open; however, if the program is held inside, there will be reserved seating sections for family and friends of graduates. Each graduate will be given a limit of 4 tickets for reserved seating. Reserve tickets will be distributed with academic regalia.

Caps and Gowns for Graduating Seniors – Students will need to pick up their caps and gowns from the University on Monday and Tuesday, April 28-29 (between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.), and Wednesday through Friday, April 30-May 2 (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) in the Academic Records Office.  Students who are enrolled in Trevecca at other locations will be informed regarding where they can pick up their caps and gowns.
