Are you currently a teacher with a career goal of being a school or district administrator? Are you ready to be a leader in curriculum design, a leader in using data to improve student learning, and a role model for students and teachers? The Master of Education in Educational Leadership prepares current teachers who have at least three years of teaching experience and want to become principals, assistant principals, or district level leaders. The goal is to prepare strong instructional leaders with the knowledge and skills to effectively work with teachers, to provide instructional leadership, and manage schools effectively.

 Admissions Process

  • Submit a completed online application.
  • Submit two (2) copies of official transcripts. Transcripts marked "Issued to Student" are not recognized as official transcripts. Official transcripts must be mailed directly from the university granting the degree.
  • Submit evidence of passing scores from one of the following required exams:
    • 378 on the Miller Analogy Test
    • 290 on the current version of the Graduate Record Exam/800 on the previous version (verbal and quantitative combined)
    • International Students only: TOEFL scores in addition to MAT or GRE (550 paper version/213 computer version)
  • Submit record of immunizations to the Health Clinic by faxing to (615) 248-7797. Click here for information.
  • Submit copy of teaching license.
    • If not currently teacher of record in a public school classroom, submit proof of fingerprinting and complete successful background check.
  • Submit proof of three (3) years of successful K-12 teaching experience: Verification form.
  • Submit Administrative Recommendation.
  • Submit writing sample: Personal Statement.
  • Complete successful interview with program director.
