
Child Care and Supervision
Are you interested in teaching in a child-care facility?
Do you want to work as a teacher’s aide or as an instructional aide?
Do you want a career as a child-care administrator
The Child Care and Supervision Program may be what you are seeking. This two-year program will teach you about these interesting topics:
- The physical, emotional, social, and intellectual developmental needs of young children
- Developmentally appropriate materials for specific age groups in child care
- The needs of exceptional infants, toddlers, and young children and how to meet those needs
- Working with teachers in educational programs for young children.
This program includes training in child care lesson planning, implementation and evaluation, classroom management, and administration; moreover, students in this program gain participate in more than 100 hours of practicum experience. This program leads to an associate in science degree (a two-year degree).
All candidates for this degree must meet admission requirements for teacher education.
Mission
To prepare students who will demonstrate competence, character, and compassion in service and leadership working with young children in child care facilities as instructional aides, teachers in child care centers, and child care administrators.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate basic writing, grammar, reading, computational, and technological skills.
- Demonstrate mastery of content knowledge in the development and needs of young children.
- Demonstrate the skills of an effective child care provider and/or teacher.
- Demonstrate the professional dispositions of a teacher of young children.
