Freelance trumpeter, arranger and composer, Bernard “Bernie” Walker, has lived and worked in the Nashville, TN area since 1987. As a long time member of Mr. Jack Daniel’s Original Silver Cornet Band, he has performed across the United States and has written many arrangements for the band that are featured on several of the band’s recordings. While in Nashville he regularly performs with the Nashville Jazz Orchestra, The Nashville Sunday Jazz Band and The Bluetones in addition to various freelance playing including pit orchestra work and studio recording. His own bands include Southern Swing Co., B. W. & Company and Harpeth Brass Ensemble. He has written arrangements and compositions for brass quintet, trumpet ensemble, brass choir, jazz ensemble and orchestra. His arrangements have been performed at ITG conferences, jazz festivals across the U.S. and Music Educator conferences in Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas and Oklahoma. He received a Bachelor of Music from the University of Kentucky where he was a student of Vincent DiMartino, and a master of Music from Arkansas State University where he was a graduate assistant and trumpet student of Richard Jorgensen.
