General Information Q: How many students are enrolled at Trevecca Nazarene University? A: Approximately 800-1000 undergraduate students; 2000-2200 total student body Q: What is a Nazarene? A: The Church of the Nazarene is a world-wide Christian denomination in the Wesleyan Holiness tradition. There are eight Nazarene affiliated Colleges and Universities in the United States, each responsible for a different geographic region. Trevecca's region is the Southeast. To learn more about the Church of the Nazarene, click here. Q: Do all Trevecca students attend Nazarene churches? A: No, 60% of all students are Nazarenes; however, the remaining 40% represent many different denominations and religions. Q: How far is the campus from downtown Nashville? A: Fewer than three miles away Q: Does Trevecca offer night or evening classes? A: A few evening classes are offered, but most of the classes are during the day. Q: What is the dress code at Trevecca? A: Students are encouraged to dress modestly. Excessively short or revealing clothing is not permitted, nor are undergarments/sleepwear. s a sign of reverence, it is requested that hats not be worn in chapel or religious services. More specific guidelines are listed in the student handbook. Q: Are new students permitted to have cars on campus? A: Yes. Students must register their auto tag numbers with the security office during registration. They will receive a parking sticker to designate which lot they are to park in. Q: Are students required to attend chapel? A: Chapel is an vital part of life at Trevecca because it fosters community and helps students find their place in the University and the world. In order to accommodate the various schedules of students, the University offers 48 chapel services throughout the semester, and students are required to attend 24 of those services. A: Women’s and men’s basketball, women’s and men’s golf, women’s and men’s soccer, baseball, softball, women’s volleyball, cheerleading, and intramural sports. Learn more about TNU Athletics here. Q: What division do Trevecca’s athletic teams compete in? A: NAIA Division I in the TranSouth Athletic Conference. You can learn more about the NAIA at their wesbite. Q: Does Trevecca offer an ROTC program? A: Trevecca has a cooperative agreement with the Army ROTC at Vanderbilt University that allows Trevecca students to receive credit for ROTC classes taken at Vanderbilt and transfer them back to their degree programs at Trevecca. Upon successful completion of the bachelor’s degree program and the ROTC Program, students receive a commission in the Army as well as the degree from Trevecca Nazarene University. Q: Does the University have a marching band? A: Trevecca has a joint program with Vanderbilt University that allows students to participate in the Vandy marching band. Trevecca also offers pep band, jazz band, wind ensemble, handbell choir, and symphony orchestra. Financial Aid Q: What does Trevecca cost? A: Estimated total cost for the 2008-2009 school year is $23,502; including tuition, room and board. Additional cost breakdowns can be found here. Q: What kinds of financial aid are available? A: Trevecca offers academic, endowment, church matching, TNT, music, athletic, and PR scholarships, as well as grants, loans, and work study. Learn more about Financial Aid here. Q: What is the FAFSA form? A: An application for student aid that is processed by the Office of Financial Aid. A new form is printed each year and should be filled out after January 1 of the student’s enrollment year. A: 003526 Student Services Q: What services are offered for students with learning disabilities? A: The Academic Support Center is available to assist in meeting students’ needs. Official documentation of the disabling condition is required. Please see the Disability Services page for more information on disability services and the Academic Support Center page for other services. Q: What services are available at the campus clinic? A: The clinic is staffed by a registered nurse and a medical doctor. Services provided by the clinic include immunizations, allergy shots, and treatment of minor illnesses/injuries. Referrals may also be made to off-campus locations for x-rays, specialists, etc. Professional services and medications are available on site at a modest expense. Q: What meal plan options are offered? A: Trevecca offers an unlimited access, continuous service plan from 7:00A.M. to 7:00 P.M. on weekdays. Weekend meals include brunch and dinner on Saturdays and breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Sundays. Q: What Internet access is available on campus? A: Trevecca provides a high speed T-1 connection to the Internet for all students, faculty, and staff. An email account is also provided to each student. Q: Is guest housing available? A: Mark’s Guest House is located on campus and is available to parents and friends of Trevecca students and employees. Reservations are made through the Office of Plant Operations at 615-248-1333.
