Welcome to the Health Information Technology (HIT) Accelerated Degree-Completion Program, offered by the School of Business and Technology. If you have been looking for that unique health computing program that prepares you to apply today’s technologies in a healthcare environment, then you have found that program.
The Health Information Technology (HIT) accelerated degree-completion program is a bachelor of science degree that focuses on the key components of healthcare coding, electronic medical records, healthcare and project management, and healthcare system implementation. These key areas of study prepare our students to implement information technology solutions successfully in a healthcare environment. This accelerated bachelor program also includes a practicum in which students acquire real-world experience in a health IT environment at a local company. Who is this program for?
Those who are working in the information technology or healthcare field but realize they need to finish their bachelor's degree to get ahead.
Through this program you can complete your degree while still working. You will attend classes only one night each week.
Those who are working in the healthcare field but wish to take advantage of the high-growth HIT industry and the many health IT job openings in the Nashville area.
You can start this program without any previous IT experience and with only basic computing skills.
Those who are working in the IT field but wish to be part of the exploding area of health information technology.
Through this program's integration of a significant component concerning the healthcare industry, you will gain preparation to make substantial contributions to any healthcare institution or company.
Those who have completed their associate's degree in IT and want to find a program that will help them get your bachelor's degree completed.
Through this program you can have many or all of your accredited associate degree credit hours accepted toward your degree.
- Age 23 or above OR age 21 with an associate's degree OR age 21 with significant work experience
- Prior completion of at least 40 semester hours of college credit
- An overall grade point average of at least 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Demonstration of computer literacy

Send in your transcripts
Request official transcripts from each college attended.
- Transcripts must show prior credit of a college math course ("C" or higher) or a CLEP test, or pass a math assessment.
- Transcripts must show prior credit of a college English Composition course ("C" or higher) or a CLEP test, or pass a writing assessment.
Submit your immunization records
Tennessee state law requires all colleges and universities to obtain immunization information from students. Please reference these instructions to properly submit your records.
We'll take care of the rest. Once everything is in order, we’ll extend to you a formal invitation to join our program!
The graduate will have successfully completed the HIT program along with 80 additional credit hours, 30 of which must be in general education.
