NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca (6-6)
hosted the Saints from Siena Heights University (0-2), sweeping the
first of two double-headers on Friday afternoon.
Game one saw the Trojans take a big lead early and never look back.
Trevecca scored eight first inning runs on only two hits, thanks to
seven walks. The Trojans added five runs in the second, one in the
fourth, and five more in the sixth on their way to the 19-0 win. Dean
Mitchell (1-1) started the game on the mound and picked up the win with
Craig Ballentine behind the plate. Justin Mundy took over the catching
duties in the fourth and Erick Sanchez came in to pitch in the sixth.
Chad Hitchcock was 3-for-3 with a run, a stolen base, and two RBI; Brad
Coon was 1-for-1 with a triple, a walk, his eleventh stolen base of the
year, and three RBI; and Bubba Norris was 2-for-4 with a pair of
doubles, a walk, three runs and four RBI. Jake Green (0-1) took the
loss for the Saints.
In the second game, Todd Dunlap (1-1) took the ball for the Trojans and
pitched exceptionally well, throwing six innings, allowing only three
hits, one unearned run, walking three and fanning eight. Cory Herbert
handled the catching and went 3-for-3 with his first homer of the
season, a run and three RBI. Stipe Miocic also homered in the game.
Adam LeFeve (0-1) took the loss for Siena Heights, with Rob Hemmig
handling the catching.
