TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Trevecca (14-7) defeated North Greenville (3-14) in Tigerville, S.C. 5-3 and 9-5.
In game one Trevecca defeated North Greenville 5-3 with seven hits and
one error. NGC had 10 hits and no errors. Nick Bodnar (3-1) got the win
in relief of Hunter Norton. Bodnar came on in the sixth and pitched
scoreless ball the final four innings. Norton gave up three runs in his
five innings. Zack Hilliard went the distance behind the plate. Shawn
Cozart was 2-for-3 with a double and Kyle Jackson had two RBI with a
2-for-4 performance at the plate. Kevin Lee (0-4) took the loss for
NGC. Trevecca scored one in the second and two in the fourth and sixth
innings. North Greenville scored all three of their runs in the fourth.
In game two Trevecca saw North Greenville take a 3-0 lead after NGC
scored three in the fifth inning. Trevecca took the lead with four in
the seventh, but NGC tied the game with a run in the bottom of the
seventh. Trevecca posted five runs in the eighth and held on for the
fourteenth victory of the year despite allowing a run in the bottom of
the eighth. Chris Fowler (2-1) picked up the victory in relief. Luke
Brown started the game for Trevecca and Fowler came on in the seventh
and finished the game. Craig Ballentine caught the game for the
Trojans. Nick Hatchette (3-3) took the loss for NGC after relieving
starter Dylan Davidson. Brad Coon had a tremendous game for Trevecca he
was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, walk, two RBI, a run, and a stolen
base. Steven Tate had a home run for NGC.
The Trojans will move to nearby Aiken, S.C. for a series of games at
NCAA Division II power University of South Carolina at Aiken. Trevecca
will face Brevard College (4-13) on Monday and Tuesday. After facing
Brevard at Noon on Tuesday, Trevecca will face host USC-Aiken (10-3) at
6 p.m. Trevecca will finish the Spring Break trip to South Carolina
with a game against USC-Aiken on Wednesday at Noon. Trevecca’s next
home game will be on Friday, March 11 at 6 p.m. (Shelby Park). Trevecca
will host North Greenville for a game on March 12 at Noon at Trevecca’s
Jackson Field. USC-Aiken is coached by former Trojan All-American Kenny
Thomas.
