NASHVILLE,
Tenn. – No. 26 Trevecca (21-9) hosted Bryan College (2-21) on Tuesday
at Jackson Field for a double-header, with the Trojans taking both
games.
In the
first game of a double header, Trevecca's Michael McGee (1-2) was the
starter and picked up his first collegiate win with the 4-0 decision.
McGee pitched the complete game three hitter and only allowed two walks
and struck out three. Offensively, the Trojans scored two runs in the
first, one in the third, and one in the fourth. Trevecca finished the
game with four runs on five hits with two errors, while Bryan had no
runs on three hits and no errors. Brad Coon picked up right where he
left off last week, going 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, and two
runs scored. Kyle Jackson was 1-for-2 in the game with a double, a
walk, a run, and an RBI; and Craig Ballentine was 1-for-2 with a sac
fly and an RBI. Will Stokes (0-2) took the loss for the Lions with
James White handling the catching duties.
In the
second game Trevecca jumped out early and never looked back in a 11-1
route. The Trojans scored six runs in the first, forcing Lion starter
Joel McLean (0-1) out of the game in favor of Jesse Naftel. The
Trojans’ offense was not stopped, however, as they scored two runs in
the second and another in the third. Josh Pool came in for the Lions in
the fourth, and the Trojans scored two more runs in the inning,
stretching the lead to 11-0. The Lions scratched across a run in the
top of the fifth, but it was not enough as Trevecca took the game,
11-1. Nick Bodnar (4-1) started the game for the Trojans, going four
innings striking out seven and picking up the win. Erick Sanchez threw
the fifth inning for Trevecca, while Zack Hilliard called the game for
the Trojans behind the plate. Justin Mundy went 2-for-3 for the Trojans
with a double, a run, and 2 RBI; James Sparkman was 2-for-2 with a
triple, a walk, a run, and an RBI; and Justin Atencio was 1-for-2, with
a walk, two runs, and two RBI.
