NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Trojan baseball team (26-9) came back to Jackson Field on Monday for a double-header with the Mount Mercy College Mustangs (12-11), winning both games and extending their current winning streak to ten games.

Nick Bodnar took the ball in the first game, picking up the victory to improve his record to 5-1. The Trojans took the lead in the third inning, and extended it to four with a three-run fourth. Mount Mercy scored one run in the fifth, closing the gap to three. Chris Fowler came in to pitch the seventh, and Luke Brown picked up the save (1) for Trevecca, while Randy Kopczyk (3-1) took the loss for the Mustangs. Brad Coon was 1-for-3 with a run and a stolen base, Bubba Norris was also 1-for-3 with an RBI. Bodnar threw six innings allowing only four hits and one earned run while walking two and fanning seven. Trevecca scored four runs on six hits with no errors, while Mount Mercy scored their two runs on five hits with two errors.

Game two saw Michael McGee start for the Trojans. The Trojans fell behind early, allowing two runs in the second, but Trevecca’s offense clawed their way back, tying the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third. Mount Mercy again surged ahead in the fifth, building a six run lead by the middle of the sixth inning. But the Trojans were not to be denied, plating four runs in the bottom of the sixth, and winning the game with three in the bottom of the seventh, grabbing the victory 11-10. Hunter Norton, who came in to pitch in the fifth, picked up the win (1-0), and Mustang reliever Justin Boswell (2-1) took the loss. Brad Coon was 2-for-4 in the game with a walk, a steal, three runs, and two RBI; and Freshman Cody Willoughby was 3-for-5 – including a two out, game-winning, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh. He had two doubles in the game and four RBI.
