Trevecca (28-10, 2-1) wrapped up the first weekend of conference play
with a win over Freed-Hardeman (19-11, 1-2) on Saturday afternoon.
Barrett Brown took the ball for the Trojans, lasting six innings while
allowing seven hits, five runs, four walks, with 10 strikeouts. Brad
Coon led off the game for the Trojans with a triple, and was knocked in
by Kyle Jackson to give the Trojans the 1-0 lead. Bubba Norris added
his fifth home run of the season in the bottom of the second, putting
the Trojans up by two. Freed-Hardeman answered with a pair of runs in
the third inning, but Trevecca reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the
fourth with two runs of their own. Freed-Hardeman briefly took the
lead, scoring three runs in the top of the fifth, but Trevecca tied it
in the bottom half. The Trojans took the lead for good in the seventh
with a two out RBI double off the bat of Stipe Miocic, giving the
Trojans the 7-5 lead. Nick Bodnar (6-1) earned the win for Trevecca,
throwing an inning and a third in relief of Brown, and Todd Dunlap (1)
picked up the save, shutting out the Lions over the final inning and
two thirds. Kirk Shoemate took the loss for the Lions. The Trojans had
seven runs on 10 hits with two errors, while Freed-Hardeman scored six
runs on 10 hits with one error.
