Trevecca (29-10) resumed play on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Spalding
University (24-13) and defeating the Pelicans 17-7.
Luke Brown got the start for the Trojans, lasting four innings and
allowing three earned runs on six hits with two walks and a strikeout.
Hunter Norton – who got the win (2-0) – and Michael McGee both threw
one shutout inning of relief, each allowing one hit, with Norton
recording a strikeout and McGee walking a batter. B.J. Stivers (5-5)
took the loss for the Pelicans, allowing eight runs in just three
innings. Trevecca scored two in the first, but exploded for six runs in
the third, thanks to back to back homers from Ryan Mieszala (1)
and Stipe Miocic (3). Bubba Norris added his sixth homer as a part of a
two-run Trojan fifth inning. The Trojans also scored one in the sixth,
four in the seventh, and two in the eighth, envoking the 10-run rule,
giving Trevecca the 17-7 win. 12 different Trojans had a hit in the
game, led by Ryan Hoganson, who was 3-for-4 with a triple, three runs,
an RBI, and was hit by a pitch. Miocic was 2-for-4 with a home run, two
walks, two runs and an RBI; and Brad Coon was 2-for-3 with two walks, a
run, an RBI, and his 30th stolen base of the season. Trevecca scored 17
runs on 20 hits without committing an error, while Spalding scored
seven runs on 13 hits with five errors.
Trevecca continues their season on Friday at 6:00 when the Trojans
Travel to Jackson, Tennessee for a weekend conference series with Union
University (18-16, 1-2).
