JACKSON, Tenn. – The Trojans (31-11, 4-2) traveled to Jackson, Tenn. to take on Union (19-18, 2-4) today for a triple-header.
In the first game, Trevecca took the early lead scoring two runs in the first inning. The Bulldogs answered back with a run in the bottom of the first and two more in the third. The Trojans came back to score four runs in the fifth inning clinching the 6-3 victory.
Trevecca’s Todd Dunlap (6-2) started the game on the mound while Zack Hilliard held things down behind the plate. Dunlap allowed 10 hits, 3 ER, 3 walks, and 3 runs, and earned the win over the Union Bulldogs. Daniel Adams (3-3) started for the Bulldogs with Elvis Sosa behind the plate, but after allowing four runs in the fifth inning, Ben Ayris came in to finish the game.
Stipe Miocic, who batted 2 for 4 with a double, scored two runs for the Trojans. Also adding to the win was Shawn Cozart batting 2 for 4, with a run, an RBI, and a stolen base. Brad Coon had 3 stolen bases giving him 33 on the season. As a team Trevecca scored their six runs on four hits while committing no errors. The Bulldogs as a team scored their three runs on 10 hits with one error.
In game two, Trevecca scored four runs in the first two innings while holding Union scoreless until the sixth inning when the Bulldogs came back to score 10 runs in the bottom of the inning. With those ten runs Union took the 10-4 win over Trevecca.
Pitcher Dean Mitchell (4-3) took the loss on the mound with Craig Ballentine behind the plate. Mitchell was relieved in the 6th inning by Nick Bodnar during a Union Bulldog rally. Shawn Cozart batted 2 for 4 with a home run (his first of the season), a double, and 2 RBI. Stipe Miocic batted 2 for 3 with a double, a run, and a RBI. The Trojans as a team scored their four runs on nine hits with no errors. The Bulldogs scored their 10 runs on 10 hits while committing one error.
In the third game, Trevecca scored a run in the first inning and two more in the third. Union answered back with a run in the bottom of the third. Both teams scored a run in the fifth, and Trevecca scored again in the seventh claiming the 5-2 victory.
Stipe Miocic batted 2 for 3 with a home run (his fourth of the season), two runs scored, and two RBI. Brad Coon had three stolen bases making his total for the season 36. Barret Brown (5-2) pitched a complete game with catcher Craig Ballentine. Brown had nine strikeouts and three walks. Trevecca scored their fine runs on seven hits while committing only one error. Union had their two runs on two hits with one error as well.
