NASHVILLE, Tenn. – No. 13 Trevecca
Nazarene University (35-12) defeated Free Will Baptist Bible College
(2-6) on Wednesday at Jackson Field by the final score of 14-2.
Michael McGee started the game and threw the first three innings for
the Trojans, before being relieved by Hunter Norton (3-0) who took the
win. Chris Fowler threw in the seventh, Bubba Norris pitched the
eighth, and Shaun Cozart split the ninth inning with Nick Bodnar. Craig
Ballentine and Justin Mundy handled the catching for the Trojans.
Derrick Parker (1-3) took the loss for the Flames, lasting only 2 2/3
innings and allowing 8 runs. Trevecca took the lead in the first inning
as Brad Coon reached, then promptly stole his 43rd base of the season,
and scored on a Kyle Jackson RBI Triple. Jackson scored on a throwing
error, and Shaun Cozart scored on a Craig Ballentine double after
reaching with two down. The Trojans allowed a run in the top of the
second, but added five more runs of their own in the bottom of the
third and from there, the game was never in doubt, as the Trojans
stretched the final margin to 12 runs at 14-2.
