After losing four seniors from last season's team to graduation, the Trevecca men's basketball team entered the 2003-04 season with more than a few question marks. Trojan Head Coach Sam Harris faced the task of not only replacing four veteran starters, but also welcoming a total of eight new faces to the basketball squad. Team chemistry, veteran leadership, and an offensive threat were all seen as question marks. The Trojans' answers came loud and clear.
 
After two wins to begin the season, the Trevecca men's basketball team endured a preconference schedule that saw the Trojans play eight road games and travel over 3,800 miles in only one month. During the stretch, Trevecca took wins from Union College (NE), Daemon College (NY), and Baptist Bible College in three different tournaments while falling to NCAA D-1 opponent Tennessee State University by only two points and losing to Campbellsville University in a triple overtime thriller. The Trojans wrapped up the preconference schedule with a record of 9-6 overall and prepared to face the competition of the TranSouth Conference.
 
The Trojans stumbled out of the gates early in the conference schedule with five TranSouth losses. Two losses, however, came in overtime fashion and no opponent won by more than nine points during the five game stretch despite facing two NAIA top 25 schools. After beginning conference play 0-5, the Trojans refused to give up.
 
With nine games left in regular season play, the Trevecca men's basketball team mounted an amazing comeback. The Trojans proceeded to win seven conference games and reach a tie for third place in the final TranSouth Conference regular season standings.
 
Entering as a five seed, the Trojans began the first round of the TranSouth Conference Tournament with an upset on the road at third seeded Freed-Hardeman University. The win propelled the Trojans to the TranSouth Conference Semi-Finals for the first time since the 2000-01 season. Facing Cumberland in the semi-final round, the Trojans fell 76-79 and finished the season.
 
The Trojans earned their fourth consecutive winning season with an overall record of 17-14 and saw several individual records fall. Senior shooting guard Curtis Lewis became the 29th member of the Trevecca 1,000 point club as the All-TranSouth and TranSouth All-Academic player also broke season record for three point percentage (48.3%) and three pointers made (99). Lewis also broke the record for career three point shooting (45.4%).
 
Junior Wesley Poe added to the Trojans success as the 6'5" forward became the 30th member of the Trevecca 1,000 point club and also made the All-TranSouth Team while senior David Stark was named to the TranSouth All-Academic Team.
 
Losing only two seniors are potentially returning 11 players to next season's roster, the Trevecca Trojans earned valuable experience on the road, at home, and in tournament competition during the 2003-04 season. Their postseason success and late regular season win streak allowed Head Coach Sam Harris and the Trojans to carry on the tradition of excellence in Trevecca athletics.
