(Moore Gym) -- Trevecca claimed the title of the 5th Annual Trojan Boosters Endowment Tournament with a come-from-behind 84-75 victory over Bethel College. This year's tournament was played in honor of Jerry G. Costa. Trevecca's Curtis Lewis and Eric Price were named to the all-tournament team with Lewis getting the nod as tournament MVP. Trevecca established an early lead, with senior center David Stark dominating the boards with eight first half rebounds. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Wildcats pulled out to a seven point lead late in the half, before Trevecca closed to within four 39-35 at the break. In the second half Trevecca stayed within range and eventually pulled ahead on the back of Curtis Lewis. The senior exploded in the second half offensively, including three 3-point field goals. Five Trojans scored in double figures: Curtis Lewis led the charge with 22 points shooting 5-9 from beyond the arc and 5-6 from the foul line; Wesley Poe and Eric Price added 15 points each; Jerod Perry chipped in 11, and David Stark turned in his second double-double of the season scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 boards. Trevecca ends Bethel's 10 game winning streak that included a win over Freed-Hardeman. Trevecca's Lewis averaged 23.5 ppg with 10 three-pointers over the two days in earning the tournament MVP award. Price averaged 15.5 points and 5 rebounds per game to make the all-tournament team. Trevecca shot 55.0% (33-60) from the field, 37.5% (6-16) from three-point range, and 66.7% (12-18) from the foul line. Trevecca continues to win the battle of the boards with a 32-31 advantage today. Brandon Howard led the team with 5 assists and 4 steals. Trevecca controlled paint on the offensive end as well by outscoring Bethel 48-30 in the paint. Trevecca also showed its depth with an 26-6 advantage in bench scoring. Trevecca improved to 8-6 on the year and will host Campbellsville University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Campbellsville defeated Trevecca 95-90 in three overtimes just before the Christmas break.
