Trevecca (14-2) returned to action on Friday, January 7 as part of the
Lou Cunningham Classic at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville,
Ky. Trevecca faced the host Tigers (9-7) on Friday at 5 p.m., turning
in a dominating performance for a 72-52 win.
In the first half, Josh Helton had nine points, while Wes Poe added in
eight of his own to go along with three rebounds. Alex Renfroe also
played well in the first with seven points and a team high six boards,
as the Trojans held the lead at the break 44-18. The second half saw
the Trojans stretch their lead out to as many as 29 points at 64-35,
and Trevecca went on to notch their 14th victory of the season.
Wes Poe led the Trojans with 18 points, while Renfroe had 10 of his own
along with team highs in rebounds (9), and assists (4). Renfroe and
Brandon Howard each had two steals, while Collins Onyando paced the
Trojans with 4 blocks. As a team, Trevecca shot 24-of-50 (48.0%) from
the floor; 8-of-20 (40.0%) from behind the arc; and 16-of-17 (94.1 %)
from the line.
