Trevecca (9-7, 0-1) started the TranSouth Athletic Conference playing a road game and losing at NAIA No. 8 Cumberland University (11-2, 1-0) 95-93. The game reamined close through regulation play as Trojan senior David Stark tipped an offensive rebound in to tie the game at 82 with only second remaining. Junior Wes Poe blocked a Cumberland three point attempt at the buzzer to send the game into overtime tied at 82. Cumberland pulled out the win in the extra period as three Trojans fouled out of the game and the Bulldogs earned a 95-93 victory.
The Trojans offense showed up in force, as they put five different players in double figures. Wes Poe paced the Trojans with 24 points, followed closely by Brandon Howard (19), Curtis Lewis (14), Eric Price, and David Stark (11). Stark led the team with 9 boards while Poe added 7 of his own.
As a team, Trevecca shot 39-71 (54.9%) from the field, 6-15 (40.0%) from behind the arc, and 9-13 (69.2%) from the charity stripe.
