Trevecca (18-4, 3-0) defeated Tennessee Temple University (9-10) on the
road Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 79-76.
Trevecca shot out to a comfortable lead early with a 17-0 run as
seniors Eric Price and Wes Poe led the Trojans in the first half with
13 points and 10 points respectively. The Trojans shot 53.3% (16-of-30)
from the field in the first half and held Tennessee Temple to shooting
only 38.5% (10-of-26) from the field. After leading by as much as 18
points in the first half, Trevecca took a 42-29 lead into halftime.
The second half saw the Crusaders of Tennessee Temple come back to
within one point of Trevecca with a 17-5 run with just over 13 minutes
left in the game, but the Trojans held on as an Alex Renfroe three
pointer and an Eric Price dunk stopped a home crowd momentum swing to
put the Trojans ahead by eight with nine minutes left. Tennessee Temple
refused to give up and with 11.9 seconds left Trevecca held a slim
77-73 lead. With 6.6 seconds left, junior Trojan Jerod Perry hit two
free throws to seal the 79-76 Trevecca victory.
Senior Trojan Eric Price led Trevecca with 23 points and eight rebounds
while senior Wes Poe chipped in with his team high sixth double-double
of the season with a 16 point, 12 rebound performance. The Trojans hit
46.3% (25-of-54) from the field, 71.1% (27-of-38) from the free throw
line, but only 15.7% (2-of-12) from the three point line.
Brad Harris led the way for Tennessee Temple scoring 21 points
including five three pointers. The Crusaders shot 49.1% (28-of-57) from
the field, 41.9% (13-of-31) from the three point line, and 87.5%
(7-of-8) from the free throw line.
