MOORE GYM - Trevecca (11-12, 2-6) lost a close one to No. 21 Union (19-6, 6-2) on Monday in Moore Gym by a final score of 72-70.
Trevecca took a slim lead early in the first half, but the lead changed hands several times until Trevecca took a 34-32 advantage into halftime. The second half saw the Trojans take a 47-41 lead, but Union answered with a 22-2 run in the second half to take a 63-49 lead. Trevecca battled back to tie the game at 70 apiece but Union's Marcus Cooper hit two free throws to take a 72-70 lead and the final Trojan possession ended without a score as Union took the 72-70 victory.
Trojan junior Eric Price led all scores with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Curtis Lewis added 11 points with two three pointers while Brandon Howard tallied six points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Union's Chima Abakwue led the Bulldogs with 18 points including six three pointers. Union shot 12 of 24 (50%) from behind the three point line in the winning effort.
