NASHVILLE, Tenn. – NAIA No. 12 Trevecca (23-6, 7-2) came from behind to defeat Cumberland University (17-11, 5-4) 99-87 on Senior Day. The Trojans honored seniors Brandon Howard, Eric Price and Wes Poe. Trevecca also honored the family of the late Robert Garrett. Garrett passed away in an auto accident as he was returning to school for the fall semester of his senior year.

Trevecca pulled ahead 146-12 early in the first half, but Cumberland rallied and the teams battled the remainder of the first half before the Bulldogs surged ahead at the half with a 10-4 run that game them a 48-41 lead at the break. Trevecca started the second half with a 12-4 run that gave them a 53-52 advantage. Cumberland would pull ahead again and led 75-71 with seven minutes remaining in the game. Trevecca scored the next 12 points to take control of the game and claim their 23rd win of the year.

Eric Price led Trevecca with 28 points and nine rebounds. Jerod Perry scored 19, had three assists, a block and two steals. Wes Poe scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds to go along with four assists and two blocks. Collins Onyando hit six of seven attempts from the field and scored 16 points. Onyando had four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Alex Renfroe had four assists and a steal.

Trevecca hit 36-of-58 (62.1%) from the field, 5-of-12 (41.7%) from three-point range, and 22-of-28 (78.6%) from the foul line. Cumberland hit 12-of-22 (54.5%) from three-point range. Cumberland won the battle of the boards 37-31.

Trevecca will host No. 8 Union University (22-7, 8-1) on Monday for a game that will decide the TranSouth regular season title. The game is a make up of a game that was suspended following a injury to Trevecca’s Brandon Howard. The game will start at 7 p.m. with Trevecca leading 20-14 with 9:02 remaining in the first half.

Regardless of Monday’s result Trevecca will host a TranSouth Tournament semifinal game on Saturday at 7 p.m.
