MARIETTA, Ga. – Trevecca (7-0)
defeated previously undefeated and NAIA No. 11 Southern Tech (5-1) 99-91 Friday night in the Southern
Polytechnic Classic
Trevecca junior Jerrod Perry
knocked down five three pointers in the first half and the Trojans combined to
hit 24 of 36 shots (66.7%) from the field to lead the Trojans to a 58-46 lead at
halftime. The second half saw the Trojans hit 21 of 25 free throws (84.0%) to
take the victory and remain undefeated on the
season.
Senior Eric Price led all scores
with 29 points and 14 rebounds while fellow senior post Wes Poe added 14 points
and 11 rebounds. Senior Brandon Howard added 26 points shooting 7 of 9 from the
field and 11 of 12 from the free throw line. Junior Jerrod Perry tallied 17
points including five three pointers in the
victory.
Starting guard Richard Lusane led
Southern Polytechnic with 20 points in the losing
effort. As a team, Trevecca hit 34 of 61
(55.7%) from the field, 7 of 16 (43.8%) from the three point line, and 24 of 31
(77.4%) from the free throw line.
Southern Polytechnic hit 33 of 70
(47.1%) from the field, 8 of 25 (32.0%) from the three point line, and 17 of 22
(77.3%) from the free throw line.
