DAYTONA, Fla. --- The Trojans (4-2) bounced back in the consolation game of the Trip Sports Invitational in Daytona, Florida with a 70-68 victory over Daemon College (5-2) of New York.
The teams were tied 32 apiece at halftime as neither team would hold more than a 5 point lead at anytime in the contest. Trevecca's Elliot Cowart literally stole the victory when he stole the ball in the waning seconds preventing Daemon from tying or taking the lead.
Wes Poe led the way with 24 points with 9 of 11 shooting from the field. Poe added 5 rebounds, a block and an assist. David Stark, an all-state performer from DCA, had his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Stark also had 3 assists and had 10 of his rebounds in the first half. Brandon Howard added 6 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Eric Price added 13 points and 4 rebounds.
Trevecca shot 46.7% from the field, 17.6% (3-17) from three-point range, and 61.1% (11-18) from the foul line. Trevecca won the battle of the boards 37-34 and only turned the ball over 13 times.
Trevecca outscored Daemon College 48-22 in the paint, 18-9 on second chance points, and 21-0 in bench points. All of Daemon's points came from starters.
Trevecca will travel cross town to face NCAA Division-1 Tennessee State University on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
