MOBILE, Ala. – Trevecca (9-0) faced
NAIA No. 4 University of Mobile (6-3) on Friday at 5:00 p.m. in the
Spring Hill Classic in Mobile Ala.
Trevecca came out strong as Freshman Josh Helton scored Trevecca’s
first nine points opening a 9-5 lead early. Trevecca held the lead for
most of the first half, until Mobile took over in the closing moments
with the Rams taking a 35-32 lead into the locker room at the break. In
the second half, Trevecca roared out of the gate, going on an 18-3 run
to open a 50-38 lead five minutes into the second half. The Trojans
held onto to the lead, as it never dropped below a five point advantage
again, despite four Trojans fouling out of the game, winning by a nine
point margin 75-66.
Four Trojans scored in double figures, led by Brandon Howard with 18.
Josh Helton (17), Jerod Perry (12), and Eric Price (11) were the other
three double digit scorers. Howard and Price tied for the team lead in
rebounds with five, while Howard also led the team in assists (7) and
steals (5), and Wes Poe recorded three blocks in the game. As a team,
Trevecca shot 26-of-43 from the field (60.5%), 9-of-15 from three-point
range (60.0%), and 14-of-21 from the foul line (66.7%).
