NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca (9-1) visited cross-town NCAA Division-1 member Tennessee State (3-3) tonight and lost in overtime 97-102.
In the first half Jerod Perry hit a 3-point shot giving Trevecca an early 14-7 lead. TSU faught back taking the lead at half time 42-49. In the second half the Trojans continued to play hard and kept the score close. With nine minutes left in the game Perry hit his sixth 3-pointer of the night putting Trevecca within four points of the lead 70-74. With less than a minute to play Brandon Howard hit a bucket cutting TSU’s lead to 2 points. Jerod Perry was sent to the foul line with 11 seconds left and made both free throws sending the game into overtime.
The Trojans fought hard in overtime but fell short losing the game 97-102.
Jerod Perry led the Trojans in scoring with 30 points, a season high for both men and womens basketball this year. Eric Price had 20 points and 9 rebounds. Wesley Poe added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals for Trevecca. Brandon Howard led the team with 7 assists and added 9 points. The team shot 31-60 (51.7%) from the field, 9-18 (50%) from behind the arc, and 26-32 (81.3%) from the free throw line.
