Losing only two seniors to graduation last season, the Trevecca women's basketball team entered the 2003-04 season with high expectations. The Lady Trojans, led by Head Coach Julie van Beek, welcome eight new members to the team and replaced two starters from last year.
 
After two dominant wins at home to begin the season, the Lady Trojans braced for a tough preconference schedule. Before conference play began, the Lady Trojans faced three NAIA D-1 Top 25 teams and two NAIA D-II Top 25 teams. In their only game in December, the Lady Trojans grabbed a win at home against NAIA #21 Auburn Montgomery as Trevecca entered TranSouth Conference play with an overall record of 6-4.
 
The Lady Trojans opened the conference schedule with a definitive 102-51 win over conference opponent Blue Mountain College. Trevecca went on to win its first four conference games including two dramatic one point wins at Cumberland University and at home against Martin Methodist College.
 
Midway through conference play the Lady Trojans stumbled a bit losing three straight conference games. The losses, however, came on the road at the hands of NAIA #3 Union Unveristy, NAIA #5 Freed-Hardeman University, and in overtime at Lyon College. Trevecca would battle back and gain ground in the conference standings with a huge upset win over NAIA #5 Freed-Hardeman University. The win propelled the Lady Trojans into a four game winning streak heading into the postseason.
 
Completing the regular season with a solid third place finish in the conference standings, the Lady Trojans entered the TranSouth Tournament with a first round home game against Lee University. Five days after defeating Lee in a regular season meeting, Trevecca defeated Lee again, this time in an overtime thriller 80-75 to send the Lady Trojans to the TranSouth Conference Semi-Finals. Union University defeated Trevecca in the semi-finals, but a solid 18-11 overall Trevecca record gave the Lady Trojans their fifth consecutive at large bid to the NAIA Tournament.
 
Entering the NAIA Tournament as a #5 seed, the Lady Trojans faced #4 seed Dillard University. Dillard prevailed in the opening round, ending the Lady Trojans season at 18-12 overall with a 63-53 Dillard win.
 
Four seniors led the Lady Trojans through the 2003-04 campaign with senior center Lindsey Fly breaking records along the way. Fly set 13 school records in her three seasons with the Lady Trojans while tallying 1,460 career points (second all-time) and 723 career rebounds (first all-time). Fly earned All-TranSouth, All-TranSouth Tournament, and TranSouth All-Academic honors for the season. Seniors Leslie Golden and Audrey Leatherman broke into the Lady Trojan top 10 all-time in scoring and both earned a spot on the All-TranSouth Second Team. Leatherman also set the school record by grabbing 11 steals in one game this season while senior Amy Bolton led a host of Lady Trojans earning TranSouth All-Academic honors which included Bolton, Fly, Emily Clark, Sharon Gabuat, and Kristin Scoggins.
 
Now losing four seniors, the Trevecca Lady Trojans look ahead to increased challenges and expectations. As a new generation of Lady Trojans prepare to take the court once again, the experience, success, and knowledge gained during the 2003-04 season will no doubt aid the Trevecca women's basketball team in their pursuit of a tradition of excellence.
