JACKSON, Tenn. - NAIA No. 21 Trevecca (11-6, 2-1) traveled to Jackson Tenn. on Thursday upsetting the NAIA No. 1 Union University Lady Bulldogs (17-1, 0-1).

In the first half, Trevecca came out strong, building a 10 point lead with 3:56 remaining thanks in part to 11 first half points and 9 rebounds from Jackie Weaver, and the Lady Trojans took a 37-34 lead into the half.

Coming out of the break, Union mounted a mini run of 8-4 to take their second lead of the game with 16:34 to play at 42-41, but Trevecca, led by two key three-point field goals from Kristin Scoggins, mounted a 17-9 run to take a 58-51 lead with 10:47 left in the game. With 1:22 to go, Ashlie Gilland hit a key bucket and drew the foul. She sank the free throw to give Trevecca their largest lead of the game at 69-61. Gilland and the Lady Trojans sealed it with free throws from there, coming away with the 74-64 win.

Gilland led the team with 18 points and had a perfect shooting night (5-5 FG, 1-1 3-pt., 7-7 FT). Mariska Reed (15) and Julia Machalela (13) each chipped in double digits on the score board, and Jackie Weaver had yet another double-double with 13 points, and team highs in rebounds (14), blocks (6), and steals (5). She also tied with Gilland and Mariska reed for the team lead in assists with four. As a team, the Lady Trojans shot 25-of-47 from the field (53.2%), 5-of-10 from behind the arc (50%), and 19-of-23 from the foul line (82.6%).
