Trevecca (2-3) fell in the opening day of the State Farm Challenge with a 68-60
loss to 5-0 Lee University. The Trojans took a two point
30-28 lead into half time, but Lee University hit 10 of 15 shots (66.7%) from
the field in the second half to secure the 68-60
victory.
Trevecca junior Jana Reed led the
way for the Trojans scoring 19 points and grabbing six rebounds while
junior point guard Kristin Scoggins added 10 points and six rebounds. Junior
Ashlie Gilland added 15 points and five rebounds in the losing effort. For Lee
University, Lindsey Sparks led the way with 18 points including three three
pointers. As a team, Trevecca shot 17 of 52
(32.7%) from the field, 5 of 18 (27.8%) from the three point line, and 21 of 26
(80.8%) from the free throw line.
Lee University shot 20 of 38
(52.6%) from the field, 10 of 15 (66.7%) from the three point line, and 18 of 22
(81.8%) from the free throw line.
