BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - NAIA No. 20 Trevecca (6-4) visited the Tigers of Olivet Nazarene (6-6) and came away with a 95-72 victory.
In the first half Trevecca fell behind 15-11 but rallied with a 8-0 run
to claim a 19-15 lead. Trevecca held a halftime lead of 51-38. In the
second half the Trojans maintained their lead and held on to claim
their fourth consecutive victory.
Kristin Scoggins had a team high 21 points. Scoggins hit 8-of-12 from
the field, 2-of-3 from three-point range, and 3-of-5 from the foul
line. Jana Reed posted a double-double with a team high 14 and added 15
points after hitting 7-of-10 from the field. Ashlie Gilland had a team
high six assists and scored 18 and grabbed six rebounds. Mariska Reed
added 12 points and four assists. Julia Machalela scored 10 points,
grabbed seven rebounds and had five steals. Amy Hutchins rounded out
the double figure scorers with 12.
As a team Trevecca hit 36-of-71 (50.7%) from the field, 6-of-11 (54.5%)
from three-point range, and 17-of-23 (73.9%) from the foul line. Olivet
won the battle of the boards 57-46. The Tigers shot 25-of-89 (28.1%)
from the field, 10-of-50 (20%) from three-point range, and 12-of-22
(54.5%) from the foul line. Yes, that was 89 shot attempts ….
The Trojans will host Brescia University (3-5) in the John and Phyliss
Ray State Farm Classic at Moore Gym on Friday, December 10 at 7 p.m.
