NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NAIA No. 21 Trevecca (7-4) defeated Brescia
University (3-8) in their first game of the Second Annual John and
Phyllis Ray State Farm Classic at Moore Gym 106-56.
Brescia scored the first points of the ball Game, but the Trojans
answered with a 9-0 run and never looked back and led halftime 53-28.
In the second half, it was more of the same for the Trojans as Trevecca
capitalized on 31 Bearcat turnovers. The Trojans outscored Brescia
53-28 in the second half, en route to the 106-56 win.
Six different Lady Trojans scored in double figures, led by Jana Reed
with 20 points in 18 minutes of play. Mariska Reed had 19, Julia
Machalela had 14, Kristin Scoggins had 13, Ashlie Gilland had 11 and
Amy Hutchins had 10. Hutchins, Jana Reed, Jackie Weaver, and Jamie Luke
all had five boards. Scoggins had seven assists to lead the way and
tied with Jana Reed for the most steals with four, while Weaver paced
the squad with four blocks. Trevecca shot 39-of-62 from the field
(62.9%), 7-of-14 from behind the arc (50%), and 21-of-25 from the
charity stripe (84%).
