The 2003-04 Trevecca men's golf season encompassed three TranSouth Conference Invitationals for the men's golf team. Opening the season by hosting the Trevecca Invitational, under the leadership of former Trojan golfer and current Head Coach Jacob Ward, the Trevecca golf squad placed fourth with a two-day score of 627. Rob Wilson led the Trojans by finishing fifth overall.
The squad's second Invitational saw dramatic improvement. At the Freed-Hardeman Invitational, the Trojans broke a school record on the first day with a one-day total of 314. The squad finished fourth out of eight teams and only six strokes behind the first place team. Two Trojans, Robbie Wilson and David King, finished third and fifth overall, respectively, and both were named to the all-tournament team.
The final tournament of the fall season took place in Rome, Ga., the Berry College Invitational. The men broke their own team record with a one-day total of 312 on day two of the invitational and finished the tournament midway through the pack.
In the spring season, the Trevecca men's golf team, due to injuries, were forced to play as individuals for most of the second half of the season. In the spring's first tournament at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala., Trojans Brent Crow and Robbie Wilson tied for 20th overall (out of 63) with a two-day total of 158. Junior Kevin Knight placed 60th with a 184.
The next tournament, at Berry College, saw Trevecca's David King lead the way for the Trojans tying for 48th place (out of 107) with a three-day total of 243. Robbie Wilson (t-84th, 252), Brent Crow (102nd, 263), and Kevin Knight (106th, 288) also contributed to Trevecca, as a team, placing 18th out of 19 teams.
In their final regular season match, the Trevecca men's team traveled to the Freed-Hardeman Invitational where freshman David King finished tied for 2nd place overall (out of 43) with a 153 two-day score. Trevecca tied for 5th place overall (out of 8) as Robbie Wilson (t-9th, 158), Brent Crow (163), and Kevin Knight (165) combined for a team score of 639, two stroked behind fourth placed Christian Brothers.
After wrapping up regular season play, the Trojans were forced to reduce the TranSouth Conference tournament to an 18 hole shootout due to rain, sleet, and windy conditions. The team finished seventh out of eight teams while individually Trevecca produced Robbie Wilson (t-11th, 79), Brent Crow (83), David King (92), and Kevin Knight (95).
In the final match of the season, the Trevecca men's golf squad advanced to the NAIA Region XI Tournament. Playing as individuals, Trojans David King (240) and Robbie Wilson (245) finished 42nd and 50th respectively.
In his first season as Head Coach, Jacob Ward and the Trevecca men's golf squad broke records and improved vastly from years past. With no seniors on this season's squad, Coach Ward can expect experience and leadership to be a key role in the continuing excellence of the Trevecca men's golf team.
