2005-2006 Season Review

The 2005-06 season for the Trevecca Trojan men’s golf team consisted of 9 tournaments, with four in the fall and another five during the spring.

The season opened with a trip to North Alabama for the Indian Bayou Invitational in September, where the Trojans shot a three day total of 978 and finished 16th of 18 teams. Trojan Tyler Qualls led the individual scoring at 237 and finished 46th of 90 participants. The fall schedule led the team to the Berry College Invitational and the Coosa Country Club. Trevecca finished tenth out of 13 teams, posting a team score of 617. Tyler Qualls was 18th of 71 golfers. The Trojans hosted the TNU Invitational at the Highland Rim Golf Course and finished second among five teams with a 598, just two strokes behind tournament winner University of the Cumberlands. Trevecca’s Robbie Wilson and Ben Walls tied at 149 and five strokes behind tournament medalist Eric King of the University of the Cumberlands. Wilson and Walls were tied for fifth (31 golfers) and made all-tournament team. The fall schedule ended in Cleveland, Tennessee at the Cleveland State Invitational, where the Trojans finished ninth (of 12) shooting a combined 645. Tyler Qualls was the best Trojan finishing 29th of 66 with a 159.

The spring schedule opened at Eagle Watch golf course at the Reinhardt Invitational. Trevecca finished fourth of four teams in the event with a score of 647. Tyler Qualls made all-tournament as he finished in the top three with a score of 155, just five strokes behind the winner. In the final tune-up before the TranSouth Tournament, Trevecca traveled to Loudon, Ky. for the Southeastern Ky. Intercollegiate tournament at Crooked Creed Golf Course. Trevecca finished 15th out of twenty teams shooting a 648. The Trojans were lead by Robbie Wilson (155) as he finished 24th out of 90 golfers.

The postseason schedule started with the Trojans hosting the TranSouth Conference tournament on the General’s Retreat course at the Hermitage Golf Club. Trevecca finished third (of 5) as a team, posting a 637 score. Will Scism placed seventh (of 25) with a two day score of 156. The finish earned the Trojans a place in the NAIA Region XI tournament at the London (Ky.) Country Club. Trevecca placed seventh (of 9) with a three round score of 941. Trevecca’s Robbie Wilson shot a 228 finishing 19th out of 44 golfers.
