OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Cumberland University won the team title and Barry
Conaster made it a Bulldog sweep taking the individual title in a
three-way playoff.
Cumberland University (Tenn.) won the championship with a combined
score of (312-290) 603. Martin Methodist (Tenn.) finished second with a
two-day total of 611. The remainder of the field finished in the
following order; Union University (Tenn.) 621, Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.)
625, Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) 637, and Lyon College (Ark.) 712.
Individually Barry Conaster of Cumberland earned the Medalist honors
after winning a three-way playoff with teammate Shane Vinson and Day
One leader Joey Morefield of Freed-Hardeman. All three finished the
tournament with identical scores of 148. Vinson earned the second place
honors in the playoff. David King of Trevecca finished alone in fourth
place with a 149. Drew Cain and Tyler Sells of Freed-Hardeman along
with Tyler Tillman of Martin Methodist each posted a score of 150 for
the tournament and shared fifth place and the final All-TranSouth team
honors.
The remainder of the Trevecca team posted the following scores. Robbie
Wilson finished 12th with a (79-76) 155, Brent Crow finished 18th with
a (86-76) 162, Adam Lawson scored a 171 and Kevin Knight posted a
177.
The TranSouth Championship was played at the 6,773 yard par 72
General’s Retreat at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn.
There were six teams and 29 individuals competing for the championship.
