PINEVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca’s men’s golf team wrapped up play the NAIA Region XI Tournament on Tuesday. The tournament included 10 teams and 50 individual golfers and was held at the 7,037 yard par 72 Waisioto Winds Golf Club.
Trevecca finished in ninth place with a (334-336-322) 992. The team was forced to play with just four golfers due to various reasons. TranSouth Champion Cumberland University took the championship with a (293-300-299) 892. Cumberland College (Ky.) was second with a (298-312-305) 915. The rest of the scores were: Campbellsville (306-309-315) 930, Lindsey Wilson College (316-315-305) 936, Union University (314-311-319) 944, Georgetown College (314-316-318) 948, Freed-Hardeman (323-312-327) 962, Martin Methodist (330-317-315) 962, (Trevecca), Pikeville College (349-331-341) 1021.
Individually for Trevecca, David King led the way with (76-78-79) 233 and finished thirteenth 17 strokes off the pace of tournament medalist Mike Shinn of Cumberland University. The other Trevecca golfers posted the following results: Robbie Wilson (22nd) with a (81-80-76) 237. Brent Crow shot a (85-82-80) 247, and Brandon Walker finished with a (92-96-87) 275. Tournament medalist Mike Shinn’s score was (70-71-76) a one over 217.
