JOELTON, Tenn. - Trevecca Nazarene
University hosted the 2nd Annual Trevecca Invitational at the par 71
Through the Green Golf Course at Highland Rim. The two-day four-team
tournament completed play on Tuesday with Lindsey Wilson College taking
the team title with a 572, followed by Trevecca Nazarene University at
593, Freed-Hardeman University at 599, and Martin Methodist College at
628. Trevecca’s two day total is the best the men’s team has posted
since restarting the program six years ago.
Individually, Lindsey Wilson's Bill Dukes took the Medalist honors with
a (71-70) 141 just one shot ahead of teammate and day one leader Tyler
Sharpe who finished with a (68-75) 143. Trevecca’s David King (70-74)
144 finished in a tie for third with Zach Wilson (72-72) 144 of Lindsey
Wilson. Dukes, Sharpe, King, and Wilson all made the all-tournament
team.
Tuesday’s 295 team total is the best one day tournament result for the
Trojans since the school restarted the men’s golf program six years
ago. The previous best one day total was a 298 in Monday’s opening
round, that tied the 2000-2001 teams 298 in the first round of the
TranSouth Conference tournament that season. Jacob Ward, Trevecca’s
third-year coach was a member of the team.
For Trevecca the remainder of the team posted the following scores.
Edward Yu (75-76) 151, Brent Crow (76-71) 147, Rob Wilson (77-74) 151,
and Adam Lawson (78-79) 157. Kevin Knight of Trevecca competed as an
individual and posted a (79-79) 158. Brent Crow shot a Trevecca career
personal best 71 on day two.
There were 21 individuals competing in this year's invitational. The
Trojans will return to action October 4-5 in the Freed-Hardeman Fall
Invitational at The Bear Trace at Ross Creek Landing in Clifton, Tenn.
