OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene University won the team title
and Trevecca sophomore Mindy Seigenthaler (Franklin, Tenn.-Brentwood
H.S.) won the individual title at the TranSouth Athletic Conference
Championships. This is the first team and individual championship for
Trevecca. The team and Seigenthaler both finished second in last
season’s tournament.
Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) won the TranSouth team championship with a
combined score of (356-349) 705. Lyon College finished third with a 747
and Freed-Hardeman finished with a 762. Cumberland withdrew from the
tournament this season.
Individually Trevecca’s Mindy Seigenthaler won the championship with a
(82-85) 167. Chelsea Gilliam of Lyon College finished a shot back at
168 and teammate finished in third with a 169. Anna Durham of
Freed-Hardeman was fourth with a 173. Rounding out the All-TranSouth
team were Kristi Gearhart with a 174 and tied for sixth were Noel
Moffett of Trevecca and Sarah Kate Hendrix of Freed-Hardeman with
identical scores of 178. The remainder of the Trevecca team posted the
following scores. Meredith Watkins finished eighth with a 186 and Jenny
Mercer finished ninth with a 202.
The TranSouth Championship was played at the 6,773 yard par 72
General’s Retreat at the Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tenn.
There were three teams and 13 individual golfers competing for the
championship.
