CHAPEL HILL, Tenn. - The TranSouth Athletic Conference women's golf tournament was postponed due to poor weather last week, but was held in conjunction with the NAIA Region XI Tournament at Henry Horton State Park this week.
Lyon College walked away with the championship both of the tournaments team and individual championships. As a team Lyon posted a (331-318) 649 while Adriane Barnett of Lyon claimed the medalist honors with a (76-74) 150 on the par 73 course. In the TranSouth portion of the tournament Berry College finished second with a (337-327) 664 followed by Trevecca Nazarene at (361-346) 707 in third, Cumberland University (Tenn.) (361-368) 729 in fourth, and Freed-Hardeman in fifth with a (407-399) 806.
In the Region XI portion of the event, Lyon claimed the medalist honors with a (331-318) 649, Berry College finished second with a (337-327) 664 followed by Trevecca Nazarene at (361-346) 707 in third, Cumberland University (Tenn.) (361-368) 729 in fourth, Georgetown College in fifth with a (379-360) 739, Cumberland College (Ky.) in sixth at (374-367) 744, Lindsey Wilson College posted a (390-382) 772 in seventh, Freed-Hardeman finished in eighth with a (407-399) 806, and Campbellsville University posted a (415-402) 817 in ninth.
Individually, Adriane Barnett of Lyon College was the tournament medalist with a (76-74) 150. Joining Barnett on the All-TranSouth and All-Region XI team are Mindy Seigenthaler of Trevecca with a (82-79) 161, Nicole Wilds of Berry College with a (82-79) 161, Chelsea Gilliam of Lyon with a (82-80) 162, Julie Church of Lyon with a (84-79) 163, and Kasey Williams of Berry with a (85-78) 163.
With her performance in the last three tournaments, Seigenthaler is in consideration for making the NAIA National Tournament with an atlarge bid.
The remainder of the Trojan squad posted the following scores: Deanna Doty (88-86) 174, Kristy Gearhart (90-87) 177, Cassie Butler (101-94) 195. All four Trojan golfers produced individual career low two-day totals. Trevecca played without Noel Moffett due to an injury.
