
Troy Haydel, a native of Convent, La., broke or tied eight Trevecca baseball offensive records while playing for Trevecca from 1981-1985. Haydel was the career leader in home runs (32), RBI (133), hits (178), total bases (215), walks (67), and at bats (515). He also held the record for most consecutive hits (7) and was tied for the record for most home runs in a game with three. The all-star second baseman was 11th on the list for career batting average (.348), second in career runs (126), fourth in career doubles (23), and fifth in career triples (7), and 15th in career stolen bases. To this day Haydel still ranks in the top five for career home runs, RBI, and triples. During his sophomore season he posted a .366 batting average, 10 home runs, 34 RBI, and scored 34 runs. His junior season was a mirror image of his sophomore year; he posted a .347 batting average, 10 home runs, 33 RBI, and scored 31 runs. In his senior year Haydel led the team with a .380 batting average, nine home runs, and five triples. He also had 45 RBI and 44 runs scored.
