Ernie Reynolds is in his fourth year as head coach of the Trojan softball program. Reynolds led his 2007 squad to the NAIA National Tournament, the team’s second consecutive appearance. The national tournament appearance was preceded by the teams’ second consecutive Region XI Tournament title. The 2007 Trojans also produced their third consecutive TranSouth Athletic Conference regular season title and second consecutive TranSouth Tournament title.
After three years with the program, Reynolds has an overall record of 143-35 and is 51-13 in TranSouth Conference play. Those numbers make him the winningest coach in Trevecca softball history with a 80.3 winning percentage. Reynolds has been rewarded with back-to-back Region XI Coach of the Year honors.
Reynolds’ vast coaching experience includes two stops with NCAA Division-1 programs. He was the top assistant at Middle Tennessee State University and was the volunteer assistant at Tennessee State University. On the high school level Reynolds was the non-faculty head at Brentwood High School.
While at Middle Tennessee, Reynolds successfully recruited the Sun Belt’s Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, a first-team junior college All-American, transfers from the Big Ten and SEC, and two of Tennessee’s most highly rated high school players. During each of his two years at Middle Tennessee, the Blue Raiders finished second in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. While at Brentwood High, Reynolds led the Bruins to a 3A Regional Championship and an overall .714 winning percentage.
Reynolds has a national reputation in the ASA/NSA ranks, having achieved more than 400 wins and several top-ten national finishes, including one World Series Championship. Additionally, Reynolds is a Club K elite camp instructor and is a member of the Advisory Staff for Worth Sports.
Reynolds attended Furman University and graduated from Belmont University with a B.S. in business administration and master’s in teaching.
