Michael Blivens starts his second season on the Trevecca coaching staff as a graduate assistant. The former Trojan all-American started his journey to Trevecca after attending a basketball camp with then-Messiah College Head Coach Sam Harris. Years later Blivens played his final two seasons of collegiate ball at Trevecca under Head Coach Sam Harris.
Blivens had a great junior year for the Trojans and was selected to the All-TranSouth Eastern Division Team. Blivens saved his best for last and provided Trojan fans with what is considered one of the best years any Trojan has ever had. During his senior year Blivens led the Sam Harris- coached team to the NAIA National Tournament (2000-01) for only the second time in school history. Blivens was not only the statistical leader, but he helped will the undersized Trojans past opponent after opponent. That season included the Trojans’ first trip to the national tournament in 14 years and the team's first 20-win season in 10 years.
For his efforts Blivens was named to the NAIA All-American team and was a first-team All-TranSouth selections. As a senior Blivens was the TranSouth’s second leading scorer (second year in a row), led the TranSouth in free throw percentage, and was the ninth leading rebounder. He also had 19 twenty-point games and 8 thirty-point games, and he set the school record for steals in a game with 10 against Indiana University Southeast. He finished the year as the NAIA's fifth leading scorer and was eighth on the free-throw percentage list.
In his two-year career Blivens became the fastest (51 games) Trojan to reach the 1,000-point career-scoring mark. He finished his Trevecca career in eleventh place on the career scoring list with 1,377 points.
Blivens played his high school ball at Maplewood High School in Nashville, Tennessee. He started his college career with legendary coach Charlie Anderson at Aquinas Junior College before accepting a scholarship to Northeastern Louisiana University. Blivens was injured during the fall of his junior season and decided to transfer to Trevecca for his final two seasons. Blivens and his wife reside in Nashville, Tenn.
