Second-year Trojan head coach Jeff Carr saw his rebuilding project and recruiting efforts produce fruit this season. The Trojans began the season with a 21-man roster that included 11 new faces; 10 of those were freshmen.

Coach Carr tested his rebuilt team with a challenging regular season schedule in conference play and out. Eight of the retooled roster’s first ten games were played on the road. The schedule included two NCAA D-1 opponents in Lipscomb and Belmont University. The Trojans started 2-6, including a conference opening 2-1 overtime loss to Union University on the road.

The team didn’t fall apart; instead they responded with one of the best stretches in Trevecca soccer history. The team didn’t post a loss over the next five matches and in doing so posted four wins and a tie. The surge improved the overall record to 6-6-1 and 1-1 in conference play. The team started the stretch with a 3-0 shutout of No. 10 Virginia Intermont. It was the first loss of the season for VIC and ended its nine- game winning streak. In fact, the only goals allowed by Trevecca in the five-game stretch were in the 2-2 tie at Lambuth.

The Trojans pushed for more improvements as the regular season came to a close and the TranSouth Tournament approached. Before another run started the Trojans lost three matches but closed the regular season with two more victories and finished the TranSouth conference race with a 2-3 record.

Trevecca faced Cumberland University in the opening round of the conference tournament and battled the Bulldogs to the very end of regulation and into double overtime. The fourth seed took the top seed to two overtimes before losing 1-0 on a Cumberland rebound goal with 5.8 seconds remaining. The Bulldogs, who were undefeated in conference play during the regular season, hosted the tournament but saw the Trojans controlling the pace of play until TranSouth Player of the Year Francis Ikome of Cumberland pushed a rebound off Trevecca’s All-TranSouth goalie Seth Miller in with 5.8 seconds remaining. Miller, playing in his last game, kept the Trojans in with big saves against the top-seeded Bulldogs.

Trevecca finished with an 8-10-1 overall record but had five losses come by just one goal, and two were in overtime to conference rivals. Five freshmen were in the starting lineup this season, and the Trojans return their entire starting lineup for the fall 2006 schedule.

Freshman Mark Foster, sophomore Calvin da Cunha, and senior Seth Miller were named to the All-TranSouth All-Conference Team. Mark Foster was also named TranSouth Freshman of the Year. Seth Miller and Mark Foster were selected as the TranSouth Player of the Week during the season. Calvin da Cuna became only the second player in school history to be named honorable mention all-American and first team all-region XI. Andrew McGovern, Jorge Hellu, Alex Lorenz, and Nathaniel Lindsley earned TranSouth All-Academic honors.
