Many were surprised with the Trojans 4-0 start to the season, but not Trojan mentor Jeff Carr. After all he returned two All-TranSouth performers from the 2005-06 squad, and for the second year in a row, he brought in a top-notch recruiting class.

With the new talent in place and a solid returning corps, Carr’s Trojans opened their season with a three-game home stand. In those three games the Trojans had three different players notch hat tricks. Mark Foster picked up where he had left off as a freshman by scoring three goals in the Trojans’ first match, a 4-1 win over Spalding University. Junior Alex Lorenz recorded a hat trick in the team’s second match of the season, a 5-1 victory over cross-town foe Fisk University, and Andy McGovern notched a trio of goals in the Trojans’ 4-1 victory over Tennessee Wesleyan in the season’s third match. Lorenz added his second hat trick of the season in the Trojans’ first road match, a 7-0 win at Pikeville College.

The Trojans hopes for the season were dampened some with injuries and the short handed team began to show the strains of the injuries with losses at Virginia Intermont and on the west coast at NAIA No. 25 Point Loma Nazarene. The Trojans recovered to defeat San Diego Christian College 5-1 to run their record to 5-2 on the season.

The injuries began to take their toll again and the Trojans and it wasn’t until the final three games of the year that the Trojans were able to return to form. Trevecca started the streak with a 1-0 victory at NCAA D-II Alabama-Huntsville and finished the season with a 4-0 shutout at conference foe Freed-Hardeman.

Trevecca finished with a 7-10-1 overall record (1-7-1 TranSouth) and were able to post a 6-3 non-conference record.

The TranSouth coaches voted Trevecca as the recipient of the TranSouth Athletic Conference Champions of Character Team. Individually, Calvin da Cunha was named first team All-TranSouth for the second consecutive year, and Mark Foster was named second team All-TranSouth.
