OAKLAND
CITY, Ind. - The Trevecca women's soccer team (0-4-1, 0-1)
continued their season on Friday at the Oakland City
tournament in Oakland City, Ind. against the Lady Pelicans of Spalding University. The Trojans came away with
their first tie of the season with a 2-2 final.
The Trojans jumped out early on a
goal by Kelsey Shockey off of a corner kick situation. The Lady Pelicans quickly
answered, however, with a pair of goals on Trevecca Keeper Kim Terry, and took a
2-1 lead into the locker room at halftime.
In the second half, the Trojans
caught a break when Heather Barber got pulled down in the box,
giving Trevecca a
penalty kick opportunity, and Lauren Collins capitalized tying the game at 2-2.
Casey Thornton came in to play goal for the final 17 minutes of regulation time
and all of overtime, making 3 saves in the extra period to preserve the
tie.
The
tournament continues Saturday as Trevecca faces Asbury College at 11:00
a.m.
