NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca’s softball season opened on
Monday as they hosted Quincy University (0-2) in a double-header and
won both games.
In the first game Trevecca took an early lead scoring
two runs in the first inning and another two runs in the fourth. Quincy
answered back with three runs in the fifth inning. Both teams scored a
run in the sixth. Quincy scored a run in the seventh to force the game
into extra innings. Quincy scored another run in the ninth inning but
it wasn’t enough as Trevecca scored two runs in the bottom half of the
inning and took the 7-6 win.
Lindsey Howard batted 2-3 with a double while Maria
Trapani provided two RBI. Evyn Terry batted 2-4 with a double and the
game-winning RBI. Hollie Shane (1-0) took the win for Trevecca on the
mound with Maria Trapani behind the plate. The Trojans had their seven
runs on eight hits while committing one error. Quincy had 11 hits with
two errors.
In the second game Quincy took the lead scoring six
runs in the first inning. Trevecca came back scoring two runs in both
the second and third innings and added one run each in the fourth,
fifth, and sixth innings claiming the 7-6 victory.
Ashley McCool and Lindsey Howard both batted 2-3 with
an RBI. Laura Redmon stepped up big for the Trojans with two RBI and a
home run. Pitcher Hollie Shane (2-0) recorded the win with catcher
Lindsey Howard. Jennifer Perkins was the starting pitcher replaced by
Jessica Leary before Shane took over. Trevecca had their seven runs on
nine hits while committing only one error, while Quincy had six runs on
10 hits with one error.
