NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca (6-0) swept Bethel College (1-6-1) in McKenzie, Tenn. on Thursday afternoon.
In game one Trevecca doubled up Bethel 8-4 as Holly Shane (4-0) picked
up the win on the mound and Ashley McCool (1) hit a home run to spur
the offensive attack. Shane pitched the first four innings and was
relieved by Jami Toomey. Shane returned in the sixth to nail down the
win. Maria Trapani called the game behind the plate. Trevecca pounded
out 20 hits to score their eight runs and played errorless ball.
Trevecca scored two in the first, three in the third, and three in the
seventh. Bethel scored one in the second and three in the seventh. The
Cats had four runs on 13 hits and didn’t commit and error.
In game two Trevecca claimed the 6-3 victory and Holly Shane (5-0)
pitched the complete game to get another victory. Evyn Terry caught the
game for Trevecca. Trevecca scored one in the first, four in the fourth
and one in the fifth. The six Trojan runs came on 12 hits and the team
committed on error. Bethel scored their three runs in the third inning
and had nine hits and two errors. With Trevecca trailing 3-1 in the top
of the fourth Laura Redmon singled and scored on a Jessica Leary
double. Diana Eckert walked and Brandy Miller hit a two-RBI triple to
rally the Trojans to the win.
Trevecca will travel to Tucson, Ariz. to play in the Tucson
Invitational for spring break. They will start with a pair of games on
March 7, 2005 at 10 a.m. and then again at Noon. The team will complete
play on March 11, 2005 with three games. Check the Trevecca website
