TUCSON, Ariz. – Trevecca (8-0) are
playing in the Tucson (Ariz.) Invitational for spring break. Trevecca
started play today with a pair of victories.
In their first game against Viterbo College (La Crosse, Wisc.) Trevecca
scored six runs in the second inning and two more in the third and only
allowed a run in the fourth and another in the seventh to pick up a 8-2
win. Holly Shane (6-0) picked up the win and was relieved in the fourth
by Jennifer Perkins. Maria Trapani received for both pitchers. Brenda
Huebscher took the loss for Viterbo. Maria Trapani was 2-for-3 with an
RBI and a stolen base. Lindsey Howard was also 2-for-3 with a double,
walk, and an RBI. Brandy Miller had a triple and RBI. Trevecca had 10
hits and two errors while Viterbo had two hits and five errors.
In the second game Trevecca defeated Dakota State (0-1) by the score of
2-1. The Madison, S.D. school scored first with a run in the top of the
first inning, but Trevecca rallied with two runs in the bottom of the
fifth. Holly Shane (7-0) got her fifth complete game win of the year
and Evyn Terry was the catcher. Trevecca’s Ashley McCool was 2-for-3
and scored the game winning run while Lindsey Howard scored the first
run. Jenny Garst (0-1) took the loss for Dakota State. Trevecca each
team had four hits while Dakota State had four errors to Trevecca’s two.
Tuesday Trevecca will face Park University (0-5) at 2 p.m. and then
Peru State (5-9) at 4 p.m. The team will complete play in the Tucson
Invitational on Friday, March 11, 2005 with three games.
