TUCSON, Ariz. – Trevecca (15-0)
enjoyed a day that would have made Ernie Banks happy, not only did
Trevecca play two games on the day they played a triple-header.
In game one Trevecca faced Wheaton College (4-4), downing the Thunder
5-1. Trevecca scored one in the first, three in the third, and one in
the sixth, recording five runs on nine hits with two errors. Wheaton
pushed their run across in the fourth and managed only one run on five
hits while committing two errors. Hollie Shane threw the complete game
with Maria Trapani behind the plate, earning her 10th win of the
season, while Katie Heurer of the Thunder picked up her third loss of
the season, despite throwing a complete game to Kim Hegna behind the
plate.
Brandy Miller was 2-for-4 in the game with a run, Jessica Leary was
2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases, and Ashley McCool continued
her red-hot play with a 2-for-4 performance with a double and an RBI.
In game two Trevecca trounced Judson College (1-6) 11-3. Jennifer
Perkins started the game on the mound for the Trojans, but was relieved
in the second inning by Jami Toomey. Toomey became the third Trojans
hurler of the season to pick up a win, while Lindsey Howard and Maria
Trapani split the catching duties. Trevecca opened the scoring with two
in the bottom of the first, but Judson answered back in the top of the
second with three of their own to take the lead 3-2. The Lady Trojans,
however, exploded in the fourth, plating eight runs and blowing the
game wide open. Trevecca added another run in the bottom of the fifth,
sealing an 11-3 victory. Kristi Lotz (1-3) took the loss, leaving in
the fourth in favor of Amber McVey. Natalie Smith handled the catching
duties for Judson. Brandy Miller was 2-for-3 in the game with a run,
Diana Eckert was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI, and Ashley
McCool was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
And in the final game of day, Trevecca defeated Minot State (0-1) by
the score of 7-2. Hollie Shane Started and threw her second complete
game of the day, again with Maria Trapani behind the plate. Trevecca
scored one in the first, two in the third and four in the fifth,
finishing the game with seven runs on 11 hits and no errors. Minot
State managed just two runs on 10 hits and committed three errors.
Brittney Mellors and Meagan Paradine split time on the mound for Minot
State, throwing to Marcy Heaman with Mellors (0-1) taking the loss.
Evyn Terry was 2-for-4 in the game, as were Ashley McCool, Jennifer
Perkins, and Diana Eckert. McCool had a double and an RBI, Perkins
added a double, an RBI and a stolen base, and Eckert notched an RBI.
Laura Redmon was 2-for-3 in the game, knocking a double of her own, and
driving in a run.
