JACKSON, Tenn. - NAIA No. 20 Trevecca (37-8) entered the Region XI
Tournament as the No. 3 seed but fell to sixth seeded Lindsey Wilson
College (22-15) on Wednesday by a final score of 2-1 in eight innings.
Trevecca scored a run in the top of the sixth inning on a Jennifer
Perkins RBI single but left the bases loaded to end the inning. Lindsey
Wilson answered on the first pitch of the bottom of the sixth inning as
catcher Amy Rice hit a solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. Trevecca
and Lindsey Wilson ended regulation still tied. Lindsey Wilson's Kim
Guy singled to score Courtney Evans in the bottom of the eighth inning
to claim the 2-1 victory.
Lindsey Wilson's Leigh Ann Collins (3-4) got the win in relief pitching
the final 2.2 innings giving up no runs on no hits and striking out one
of the eight batters she faced. Kasey LaDuke started the game for
Lindsey Wilson pitching 5.1 innings and giving up one run (earned) on
seven hits and striking out four. Trevecca's Hollie Shane (29-6) picked
up the complete game loss hurling 7.1 innings and giving up two runs
(both earned) on nine hits and striking out two.
Trevecca's Jennifer Perkins batted 1-for-3 in the game with the team's
lone RBI while Lindsey Wilson's Amy Rice batted 3-for-4 with a run and
an RBI on a solo homerun.
Trevecca scored one run on seven hits and committed two errors while
Lindsey Wilson scored two runs on nine hits and committed three errors.
The No. 3 Trojans fall to the loser's bracket and will play Thursday at
1:00 p.m. in Jackson, Tennessee at Union University against the loser
of No. 1 Martin Methodist vs. No. 5 Campbellsville.
